Message from Director General

Professor D.B. Goel graduated in Metallurgical Engineering from Indian Institute of Science Bangalore in 1963 and obtained M.E.(Met.) from Banaras Hindu University in 1965. In June 1965 he joined IIT Roorkee (formerly University of Roorkee) as Lecturer in Materials Engineering. During 1968-71 he studied at the Max - Planck - Institute for Metallurgical Research Stuttgart (Germany) and obtained the Ph.D. Degree in 1971. While serving at IIT Roorkee, he worked as Professor and Head of Metallurgical & Materials Engineering during 1983-86 and 1992-1995. At IIT Roorkee he served as member of academic council, senate and syndicate and various other bodies. He was also Director of Central Library during 1992-95.

Professor Goel possesses a brilliant academic record to his credit. For his excellence in Research & Development he received the prestigious Jawahar Lal Birth Centenary Research Award of Central Board of Irrigation and Power, Hydrogen Award of the Institution of Engineers (India) UP State Center, Khosla Research Award of University of Roorkee and Achievement Award of the Institution of Engineers (India) M.M. Division. He is recipient of the DAAD fellowship of Germany, Agra University Bursary Fellowship, National Scholarship (Government of India) and Merit Scholarship of U.P. Board. Professor Goel has worked on several R & D projects of various funding agencies and has guided several M.Tech and Ph.D. students. He has attended several National and International Conferences and published more than 85 research papers in National and International journals.

Professor Geol has widely travelled abroad on academic visits. During 1996 he was invited by Iranian Govt. for delivering technical lectures at various Universities in Iran. He is Life Fellow of the Institution of Engineers (India) and Life Member of Indian Institute of Public Administration. After serving IIT Roorkee for more than 45 years, Professor D.B. Goel joined Hermes College in August 2010 as a faculty. On May 17, 2011 he look over as Director General (DG) of the Institute. His vision as DG is to develop modernized teaching aids in this institution and transform the youth into successful entrepreneurs, researchers, academicians and managers. His focus is to streamline effectively the entire process of learning with an objective to place Hermes College as a top ranking institution in this region.
